Small things migrate. Rings end up on the windowsill, earrings end up behind the tap, and both get found weeks later by somebody cleaning. A raised tray fixes that by giving them one obvious place: glass, 5 in (12.7 cm) across, with curved edges that keep a ring from rolling off.

That is a teacup saucer raised to about the height of a coffee mug. It takes a couple of rings, a pair of earrings and a watch. A necklace laid out flat, a stack of skincare or a pile of hair ties will not fit on a 5 in (12.7 cm) circle, and the overflow ends up back on the windowsill.

Glass on a narrow foot has a high center of gravity for its size, so keep it back from the edge of a vanity where a sleeve catches it. Color also runs slightly differently from one piece to the next, which shows if you order both and set them side by side.
