A vase does not have to look like a vase. These are white ceramic in three shapes lifted off a tea tray, a teacup, a kettle and a pitcher, and each one holds water and stems the way its outline suggests it will.

Good to know

Shape decides the flowers here. The cup takes a short, dense handful, ranunculus or hydrangea heads cut right down to the collar. The kettle and the pitcher stand taller and carry a looser spray with some height in it. Put a tall arrangement in the cup and it goes over the first time somebody shuts a door.

White ceramic shows a waterline. Change the water every couple of days and run a bottle brush around the inside, because a green ring on white ceramic is a good deal more visible than the same ring in colored glass.
