A sculptural vase competes with the flowers. Give it three or five clean stems, eucalyptus, ranunculus, a single flowering branch, and let the shape carry the rest of the job. Load it with a full mixed bouquet and the two halves fight each other on the table.

Matte surfaces mark. A wet ring off the base or a greasy fingerprint sits on the surface instead of wiping straight off the way it would on gloss, so dry the bottom before you set it down and handle it with dry hands. If you want a matched pair for a mantel, order both at once and expect small differences anyway.
