Good to know
The magnifying face is for brows, liner and tweezers, and it is useless for judging whether the whole look holds together, because it shows you roughly one eye at a time. Spin it back to the plain face for that, and do it before you leave the room rather than after.
Light does more work here than the mirror does. Set it facing a window or a lamp in front of you. With the light behind you, an ornate frame throws its own shadow across your face and you will read your own shading wrong every time.
