Glazed ceramic holds water, and a sculpted pot rarely gives it anywhere to go. That is how a succulent in a decorative pot rots from the bottom while the surface still looks dry. Either water in teaspoons, or drop a plastic nursery pot inside and lift it out to water at the sink.
Empty, they earn their spot anyway. A conch by a kitchen sink holds rings, and a star jar on a desk takes paper clips and loose change without looking like an office supply.
Care
A damp cloth handles the glaze. Hard water leaves a white mineral film that shows on a blue glaze faster than it would on a matte finish, and a splash of vinegar takes it off without touching the color underneath.
