A pothos cutting will root in a drinking glass on the windowsill, and then you are living with a drinking glass on the windowsill for a month. This is a metal flamingo frame holding a glass bulb, built to hold a cutting in water where you can watch the roots come in.

The bulb lifts out of the frame, which matters more than it sounds. Water in a rooting vessel clouds within a week, and a fixed bulb means going at it with a bottle brush held sideways.

Good to know

Change the water weekly or the roots stall and the glass films over green. A rooting vessel is a waiting room: once the roots reach a couple of inches the cutting wants soil, and a stem left swimming past that point grows water roots that sulk for weeks after they finally get potted.

Care

Hand wash the bulb, dry the metal. Standing water and a metal frame do not get along, so wipe up what you slop on the way to the sink instead of letting it sit in the joints.
