Short stems are the reason a small vase earns its shelf. A supermarket bunch arrives at one length, built for a tall vase, and cutting it down is what stops the heads from folding over the rim by day three. This one is glazed ceramic in a soft pastel, in thistle, light blue or light green.

Care
Rinse with warm water and a drop of soap between bunches, change the water every two days, and let the inside dry fully before it goes back in a cupboard. Standing water is what leaves the brown ring at the waterline.

A vase this size holds a handful of stems, not a florist bouquet. Buy it for the three tulips left over from a bigger arrangement, or for a single stem next to a bed, and cut the stems shorter than feels right.
