A narrow swivel peeler skates off a butternut squash and takes a slice of your thumb on the way past. This one is built the other way round: a wide flat blade set in an open steel frame on a wooden handle, so the stroke is long and straight and your hand stays behind the edge the whole time.
On thin skins, a cucumber or a potato, it lifts the skin and very little of what is under it. On a pumpkin it has the width and the edge to get through a hard outer layer instead of skidding across it.

Care
Rinse it through straight after use and dry the handle. Wood left sitting wet on a counter swells around the rivets and works loose over a year of that, long before the blade gives up.
Good to know
A blade this wide is the wrong tool for anything small and round. A new potato or a shallot wants a swivel peeler that follows the curve. This one is built for length: carrots, cucumbers, squash, a whole pumpkin.
There is no blade cover. Store it flat in a drawer with the edge facing away from you, or you will find it edge up on the day you reach in without looking.

Send it back unused, tags on, in its original packaging. Your order confirmation is all the proof we need. We do not charge restocking fees. Full conditions are in our refund policy.
