Asking a guest to take their shoes off out loud is awkward exactly once per guest, and then again for every guest after that. A mat that says it at the threshold gets the same result without the conversation: black lettering and a small heart on a woven ground, framed by a darker border.
The textured face pulls grit and damp off a sole before it travels down the hall, and the backing grips so the mat does not skate across a wood floor when somebody wipes their feet at speed.

A standard front door is about 36 in wide. The small covers the middle of that opening and leaves floor showing at both ends. The medium covers nearly the whole width, which matters when two people arrive together and both need somewhere to stand.
Care
Shake it out over a step and vacuum along the weave rather than against it. Bring it in when it is soaked through, because a wet mat pressed under a door dries slowly and starts to announce itself.
Good to know
It is a doormat, not a boot scraper. Dry dirt, grass clippings and street dust come off on the surface. Caked mud needs stiff bristles and a doorstep, and no woven mat will take it off for you.
