A chip clip closes a bag. It does not keep air out, which is why the back half of a bag of tortilla chips tastes like the box it came in by Thursday. This one melts the plastic shut instead: press it onto the top of the bag, slide it across, and the bag is closed for good.

It runs off a rechargeable battery over USB-C, and a small display on the top shows what is left of the charge, so it does not quit on you halfway across a freezer bag.

Care

Give the heating strip a minute to cool before it goes back in the drawer, and wipe the strip with a dry cloth once it is cold so melted plastic does not build up on it.

Good to know

It seals, it does not vacuum. No air comes out of the bag, so run the flat of your hand along the bag first if you want it lying flat in the freezer.

Every reseal costs you a strip of bag. Cut it open with scissors just under the seam and a tall coffee bag will take four or five closings before it gets short.
