Size

5 oz (150 ml) is a tea cup rather than a mug, roughly half a standard mug fill. That is the size loose leaf tea is meant for: two or three small pours from one steeping, each drunk hot, instead of one long cup that goes cold at the halfway mark.

Good to know

There are no handles. A cup this size holds heat right through the wall, so you take it by the rim and the base, which is normal for the style and a surprise the first time you reach for it with a full pour of boiling water.

Reactive glaze is decided in the kiln rather than printed on, so the cups that arrive will not match the photograph stroke for stroke. That is the appeal, and it is also the reason to give this to someone who likes that rather than to someone who wanted five identical cups.

Care

Wash them by hand. Tea settles into a matte glaze faster than a glossy one, and a soak in warm water lifts the stain out again before it sets into the surface for good.
