Succulents die of kindness far more often than neglect, and a sealed pot is how it happens: the water sits under the roots and the plant rots from the bottom up. There is a drainage hole in the base of each of these, which matters more than the faceted pattern around the sides.

Size
These are small, and the smallest is very small. A 2 in (5 cm) nursery pot, the size supermarket succulents arrive in, sits inside the medium with a little soil around it. The large takes a single rosette with room to spread, and no more.

Good to know
A hen and chicks clump will fill the large in one growing season, and anything with a taproot never fits at all. Single rosettes, cuttings taking root, cacti and air plants are what this size does well.
Care
The open base is the point, so put a saucer under it or you will find a damp ring on the shelf. Wash it by hand; a dishwasher rack is where small ceramics go to chip.
