Raven Bird Lamp, Table or Wall Mounted, 12 in

A bulb you cannot buy locally turns a lamp into an ornament the day it burns out. This one takes a G45 E12 bulb, a small round globe on a candelabra screw base, which every hardware aisle carries. One comes in the box with the cord, so it works out of the packaging and it keeps working in five years.

The lamp itself is a cast resin raven with a ceramic look, 12 in (30 cm) from beak to tail, holding the bulb where a lamp would normally hide it.

Size

12 in (30 cm) long by 6 in (15 cm) takes about the space of a shoebox laid on its side, so it wants a shelf with real depth rather than a narrow ledge. On a nightstand it will share the surface with a phone and nothing else. The two wall versions face left or right, so pick the one that looks into the room rather than at the corner.

Good to know

The spec sheet lists 90 to 260 V under a heading that says Wattage. That is the input voltage range, which is good news, since it means the lamp runs on either side of the Atlantic. It is not a wattage, and the actual bulb power is published nowhere, so expect the soft glow the copy describes rather than usable reading light.

One set of measurements is given for all four styles, which cannot be right for a bird that sits, stands, and mounts on a wall two ways. Take the numbers as the standing version and ask if the wall bracket adds depth.
