A cutting roots when the node stays under water and the leaves stay above it. In a wide jar the stem slides sideways, the leaves end up soaking, and a healthy trim turns to mush on the windowsill inside a week.
These are handmade borosilicate glass, shaped like a pomegranate, in two sizes: 2 x 3 in (5 x 7.5 cm) and 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm).
- Borosilicate glass, so a hot rinse does not shock it.
- Handmade, which shows in small differences of wall thickness and shape.
- Clear all the way through, so you watch the roots instead of guessing at them.
- Doubles as a toothpick holder or a shelf object between cuttings.
Size
| Size | Dimensions |
|---|---|
| Small | 2 x 3 in (5 x 7.5 cm) |
| Medium | 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm) |
The small one takes about the space of an espresso cup, the medium about a coffee mug. Neither is a flower vase: one cutting or a few short stems each, and a supermarket bunch tips both over.
Care
Change the water every few days or the roots slime over. Wash by hand in warm water with a bottle brush, because dried algae inside a shaped glass is a job you want to do exactly once.

About us
About us
Welcome to HollowMade. We hunt for the pieces that make a room worth walking into: vessels, lighting and sculpture, picked one at a time and kept on our own shelves.
Chosen, not listed - Every piece is handled and checked before it ships. If it would not earn a place in our own home, it does not make the catalogue.
Fair prices, quietly - We keep the range tight and the margins honest, so a good object costs what it should and reaches your door wherever you are.
A person on the other end - Write to us and someone reads it. Before the order, after the order, either way.
