A spoon rest holds one spoon. This holds four, which is closer to what a stovetop actually needs when a sauce, a pan and a pot of water are all going at once.
It is food grade silicone with four slots and a tray underneath that catches whatever runs off the handles. It sits on the counter next to the burners and ends the folded paper towel routine.

Good to know
Four is the ceiling. If you cook with a ladle, a whisk, two spatulas and a pair of tongs going at once, some of them go back on the counter anyway. Keep the slots for the tools that come off the heat dripping and leave the dry ones standing in the crock.
Care
Empty and wipe the tray the same night. Cooking oil left sitting in silicone goes tacky by morning, and then it wants a hot soak rather than a rinse. Top rack of the dishwasher after that.
