Height is the only thing a narrow vase gives you, and that is worth knowing before you order three of them. These are clay vases with a linear pattern etched into the surface and a hand painted glaze in earth tones, made in three sizes from 8 in (20.3 cm) to 13 in (33 cm) tall.

The small is about the size of a beer bottle. The large, at 13 in (33 cm), stands a hand taller than a wine bottle. All three are columns rather than bowls: 4 in (10.2 cm) across at the widest holds a few stems standing straight up, not a supermarket bunch fanned out.

Care

Rinse by hand and dry the inside before it goes away in a cupboard. For fresh flowers, a small glass or a jar dropped inside keeps the water off the clay entirely and makes the weekly change a matter of lifting one thing out.

Good to know

A hand painted glaze means the tone shifts from piece to piece, so ordering the three sizes together gets you a family rather than a matched set. Bought one at a time, months apart, they will not line up.
