Materials

Ceramic, under a matte glaze. Matte hides the film of dust that shows up on a gloss vase within a week, and it also holds a water ring if you leave the base standing in a puddle on a wood shelf.

Care

Rinse with warm water and dry the inside before it goes back in the cupboard. Standing water leaves a chalky ring on ceramic that a quick rinse will not lift, and a bottle brush is the only thing that reaches the bottom of a narrow shape.

Good to know

A matte surface scuffs against grit. Lift it to move it rather than sliding it across a stone counter, and keep the scouring pad away, since it will polish shiny patches into the finish that you cannot put back.
