Size

9 in (23 cm) tall and 6 in (15 cm) across. Stand it beside a wine bottle and it comes up to about the shoulder. On a dining table that is low enough to see over, which is more than most tall vases manage.

Good to know

The proportions want short stems. Anything much taller than the vase itself starts to lever it over, so think peonies, ranunculus, or a fistful of eucalyptus rather than gladioli or a cut branch. White glaze shows whatever lands on it, lily pollen in particular, so rinse it out between bunches instead of topping up the water.
