Wooden Perpetual Desk Calendar, Crescent Shape

A perpetual calendar is only right on the days you remember to turn it. That is the deal with every one of them, and it is worth knowing going in: this sits on a shelf looking like an object, and on the mornings you spin the wheels it also tells you the date.

Size

At 7.7 in (19.5 cm) across and 1.4 in (3.5 cm) deep it takes about the footprint of a mug and saucer on a desk. The wheels sit proud of the crescent on one side, so allow a little more width than the face alone suggests when you are working out a shelf.

Good to know

The wheels turn by hand, one for each window, and that is the whole mechanism. Nothing to power, nothing to reset, nothing to sync.

Wood and steam do not get along. Keep it off the kitchen windowsill above the sink and away from a radiator, because a flat wood face that dries unevenly cups, and a cupped face makes the wheels bind.

Treat it as decoration that happens to show a date. If you need to track something that matters, this is not the tool, and a paper wall planner still beats it.
