The cable is the part nobody plans for. This runs on USB with a switch on the plug, so before you settle on a spot, work out where the cord goes: down to a shelf, behind a headboard, or across a stretch of wall you will have to look at every day.

It is a wall light cut from stacked wooden layers in a mandala pattern, 11.8 in (30 cm) across, with LEDs hidden in the tiers so the light comes through the cut outs and washes back onto the wall.

Size

At 11.8 in (30 cm) it is about the span of a dinner plate on the wall, which puts it right for a narrow stretch of wall, a bedside, or the gap above a low shelf. Over a sofa or a bed it looks undersized on its own, so hang it as one of three or give it a wall that is already tight.

Good to know

The glow comes off the wall behind it, so the wall decides the effect. On white plaster the halo is wide and soft. On a dark or heavily textured wall most of it disappears and you are left with only the light coming through the cut outs.

It is ambient light and nothing else. It will not light a room you want to read in, and in daylight it reads as a wood panel, which is the honest way to buy it.
