An orb lamp lights the shelf it stands on and a hand's width of wall behind it. That is the job here: a warm point in a dark corner, not the light you read by and not the one that gets you down the hallway at night.

Good to know

The USB power is the practical part. There is no wall socket to find and no lamp cord to hide behind furniture, which is what lets it sit in the middle of a bookshelf instead of near a baseboard outlet. It also means it stays lit for as long as whatever it is plugged into stays awake.

Acrylic scratches more readily than glass, and the marks show worst on the clear orb where the light passes through them. Dust it with a soft dry cloth or a clean makeup brush, and keep it out of the kitchen, since cooking grease films over acrylic and does not come off with a dry wipe.

The glow is decorative rather than bright. In a fully dark room it reads as a night light with a bird on it, which is the expectation worth having before it arrives.
