A board this size holds roughly what a dinner plate holds: two cheeses, a small pile of cured meat and a handful of crackers before things start sliding off the edge. Plan it for two people on a sofa rather than for a table of eight.
It is a wooden serving board carved in the shape of an octopus, and the tentacle sections work as separate compartments so the soft cheese does not end up leaning on the grapes.

Size
At about 10 in (25 cm) square it takes the footprint of a dinner plate, which fits on a coffee table between two glasses and will not stretch to a spread for a full table. If you are feeding a crowd, run two boards and stop asking this one to be bigger than it is.
Care
Rinse and dry it by hand and keep it out of the dishwasher, because an hour of hot steam is what opens the grain on a carved board and blurs the fine detail in the tentacles. Wipe on a food safe oil when the surface starts to look chalky, which on a board in weekly use is every month or two.
Good to know
Carved recesses hold dry food. Olives in brine, marinated peppers and anything oily want a small dish set on top of the board, or the wood drinks the liquid and keeps the smell.
