Kneeling on a brick path puts your body weight on two patches of bone about the size of a coaster, which is why most people weed a border in shifts instead of in one go. These put a foam shell between you and the ground and leave the kneecap itself sitting in a gap.

They are strap on knee pads for garden work: a cushioned outer, an open center over the kneecap, and elastic straps that fasten behind the knee.

Good to know

They pull on over jeans or leggings, so nothing has to come off before you start. The straps are the part that decides whether you keep using them: snug enough that the pad does not creep down your shin when you shuffle sideways along a bed, loose enough that they are not biting into the back of your knee after twenty minutes.

These handle the kneeling. They do nothing for the getting back up, so if that is the part your knees object to, a kneeler bench with handles is the tool you actually want.

Care

Let the mud dry, then brush it off, and leave them out to air before they go back in the shed. Damp foam shut in a bucket comes out smelling like the bucket.
