A dog that bolts at fireworks is reacting to sound pressure, and a fabric wrap over the ears takes the edge off it rather than switching it off. Set the expectation there and the thing does its job. It is a soft band that covers both ears and fastens under the chin with an adjustable strap.

Good to know

Introduce it on a quiet afternoon, never during a storm. A dog meeting a strange object on its head while the sky goes off will connect the two, and from then on the wrap is part of the problem. Ten minutes at a time with a treat, several days ahead, is what makes it work on the night.

Some dogs will not tolerate anything over the ears, and no strap changes that. If yours works a collar off or shakes out of a harness, expect the same here.

Care

Press the hook and loop strap closed on itself before it goes into the machine. Left open, it collects every loose hair in the drum and comes out wearing them.
