The medium at 19 x 31 in (50 x 80 cm) suits a single front door. The large at 23 x 35 in (60 x 90 cm) is the one for a double door, a wide step, or a household where boots come off outside. Measure the clear space in front of the door rather than the door itself: a mat a little wider than the opening reads as deliberate, a mat that catches on the swing does not.

Printed polyester fades in direct sun, so a mat under a porch roof keeps its greens a lot longer than one baking on an open step from noon onward. Shake it out weekly as well. A mat already full of grit stops trapping grit and starts handing it back.
