Carved compartments decide the spread before you do. Wells hold olives, cornichons, and a spoonful of jam without any of it running into the cheese, and the flat runs between them take crackers and folded slices of cured meat. This board is cut from solid wood in the outline of a Highland cow, and comes in three versions.

Good to know
Serve on it, do not cut on it. A knife dragged across a carved surface scars the wells and blunts itself on the ridges between them, so slice the cheese on a plain board and arrange it here. A soft cheese left out also finds every low point on the board, which is either charming or a chore depending on the evening.
Care
Hand wash in warm water and stand it on edge to dry so the wells empty. Carved wood left face down in a rack holds water in the hollows and lifts the grain within a few washes. A wipe of food-safe oil once a month keeps the carving from going pale and chalky.
