A stuck lid does not need more hand strength. It needs something else to hold the lid still while you turn the jar, and that is the whole job this does.

It mounts under a cabinet, a shelf or the lip of a counter, low enough to stay out of sight until a jar of passata refuses to cooperate. The jaw is a toothed V: push the lid up into it, twist the jar with both hands, done.

Where you mount it decides whether you keep it. You need room to get both elbows out and both hands around the jar, so the underside of a cabinet over a clear stretch of counter works, and the spot above the sink or behind the kettle looks tidy and turns out useless. A V shaped jaw also takes a range of lid sizes rather than every lid ever made: a sauce jar and a soda cap seat fine, something the width of a paint tin is asking a lot of it.
