Materials

Borosilicate glass in a natural wood frame. Borosilicate takes a temperature change without complaint, which matters mostly when you rinse a cold bulb under a hot tap in January.

Care

Change the water once a week and rinse the glass while it is empty. Algae films the inside of a bulb faster than roots fill it, and once the film is there it needs a bottle brush rather than a rinse.

Good to know

Roots outgrow a bulb of this kind. When they mat against the glass the cutting wants soil, and the stand goes back to holding the next one. Treat it as a nursery rather than a pot.
