A 1.97 in (5 cm) opening decides which plant fits, long before the shelf does. This is a small round ceramic pot, 2.95 in (7.5 cm) tall and 4.72 in (12 cm) across the base, shaped like a planet with a narrow mouth on top.

It is wider at the base than it is tall, so it sits low and steady rather than tipping off a narrow shelf. Set next to a coffee mug it comes in lower and broader, which is the right scale for a desk and the wrong one for anything that has already outgrown its nursery pot.
Care
Water it with a spoon rather than a jug. A pot this small floods before you notice, and a succulent left standing in water rots from the base up.
Good to know
The narrow mouth is the character of the pot and also its limit. A plant that thickens past 1.97 in (5 cm) is not coming out again without something giving way, so treat this as a home for a young succulent or a cutting rather than a pot to grow into.
