Size

At 23 in (58.4 cm) the stem is tall enough for a floor vase or a tall cylinder and too tall for a bud vase without shortening it. Hold it against the vase and mark the height before the first cut, because the stem does not grow back.

Good to know

Flocking holds dust. That is the trade for a stem that does not look like green plastic tubing: the color reads right, and it wants a dusting every few weeks in a room that gets used.

Care

Brush the blooms with something soft and keep the spray out of a bright window. Silk fades from the petal edge inward, and a red that has gone pink at the tips reads as tired rather than pale.
