Site it where the panel sees open sky most of the day, not where the elephant looks best at noon. Those are rarely the same spot, and the panel should win. Short winter days also cut the run time sharply, so expect less of it in the darkest months than in July.
Care
Wipe the panel clear of dust and pollen every few weeks, because a film across it costs you more light than anything else you could do. Rinse the resin with plain water and let it dry in place.
