Every taper candle problem starts at the socket. Standard tapers run about 3/4 in to 7/8 in (1.9 cm to 2.2 cm) across the base, and a hole cut a fraction wide leaves the candle leaning at dinner while a hole cut a fraction narrow means it will not seat at all. That measurement is the one this listing does not give.

What it does give is the form. Five shapes in black wood, each turned around a different geometry: Globe, Orb, Half Moon, Wine and Crystal.

Size

No height, no base width and no socket diameter were published for any of the five. If you already own tapers, measure one at the base before you order, and if you are buying the candles at the same time, buy standard rather than slim or column. Nothing here is stated well enough to gamble a dinner table on.

Good to know

Wood and open flame want a rule: burn a taper down to about a hand's width above the holder and stop. A black finish on wood scorches, and once a candle burns to the socket the mark stays. It is also unclear whether an order brings one holder or a group, which matters because these read best in threes at different heights.

Care

Wax drips are easier cold. Let them set, lift them off with a thumbnail rather than a blade, and wipe the finish with a dry cloth.
