The dragon holds the lantern out from the wall rather than sitting behind it, which is the detail that makes this work at a bedside. The light hangs on a short chain from the raised claw, clear of the backplate, so the glow falls forward onto the floor instead of washing up the wall behind.
The body is dark bronze against a gold scrollwork plate, wings swept back, tail curling down. The shade is frosted glass with faceted drops around the rim and one hanging below.
