Six flat facets run down the side of every piece, so the glass throws light back instead of sitting flat on the table. The carafe closes with a turned wooden ball; the tumblers are sold on their own if all you want is the drinking glasses.
Borosilicate is the glass family used for lab ware and stovetop kettles, which is why a pour of hot tea does not worry it.

Good to know
Treat this as a water carafe rather than a spirits decanter. A wooden ball resting in the neck slows evaporation, it does not seal against air, so a wine you leave in it overnight will taste tired by morning. Water, iced tea and juice you plan to finish are what it is for.
Care
The glass goes in the dishwasher. The stopper does not: wood swells, then splits along the grain, and a stopper that no longer seats leaves you with an open bottle. Rinse it and dry it by hand.
