A shell shaped vase is wide at the mouth and short in the body, which is poor arithmetic for a long stem and good arithmetic for a low, spreading arrangement. Fill it with grasses, ranunculus, anything that fans sideways rather than reaching up.

Both are roughly the width of a dinner plate. Cut stems to about the height of the vase again and no more, because a tall flower leaning out of a wide mouth takes the whole thing forward with it, which is the failure mode of every open vase.
Good to know
A wide mouth also means a few stems rattle around and look thin. Either fill it properly or use it dry with grasses and seed heads, where the gaps read as a choice rather than an oversight.
