Size

Each hook is 1 in (2.5 cm) wide, 5 in (12.5 cm) long and stands 3 in (7.5 cm) proud of the wall. The projection is the number that matters. Three inches takes a backpack by one strap and a wound up leash at the same time, and the strap stays put instead of walking off the end every time the door slams.

Good to know

The 33 lb rating describes the wood and the screw, not the plaster. Driven into a stud, you will never get near it. Driven into hollow drywall with the screw alone, a soaked coat and a tote of groceries will bring the hook down with a fistful of dust behind it. Find the stud, or use a wall anchor rated for what you actually hang.

The tree oil finish is there for damp umbrellas and wet raincoats, which is exactly where an untreated wooden hook goes gray and fuzzy first.

One screw means one pivot point. A heavy bag hung off to one side turns the hook slowly out of true, so check it now and then and snug it back.
