Good to know

Plant something that grows up rather than out. A snake plant, a small aloe or a young dracaena reads as hair and leaves the face clear. A trailing pothos looks charming for a month and then covers an eye, and at that point you own an expensive pot with a plant on it.

The drainage hole needs somewhere for the water to go. Stand it on a saucer, or take it to the sink, water it there and let it stop dripping before it goes back on a shelf.
