Most zappers hang from a hook at head height, which is where moths and butterflies fly and not where mosquitoes do. Mosquitoes are poor flyers and stay low, hunting ankles rather than faces. This one goes on two stakes pushed into the lawn so the grid sits down in the band they actually work in.

Good to know

A zapper is not a repellent. It pulls insects toward itself, which is useful at the far edge of a patio and counterproductive two feet from where people are sitting. Stake it downwind and away from the table, then leave the area between it and the seats clear.

An electric grid is indiscriminate. Moths, beetles and anything else drawn to UV go the same way the mosquitoes do, so this is a tool for a patio you want to sit on, not for a garden you are trying to keep friendly to pollinators.

Solar means the runtime depends on the day it just had. After a week of cloud, plug it in overnight rather than expecting the panel to catch up on its own.
