The bubbles need heat. Iced coffee or a room temperature drink gets you a small cup with a pig on it and nothing else, so this is a cup for tea, coffee and cocoa rather than for anything cold.

A wide shallow cup also loses heat faster than a tall one. At this size the drink is finished before that matters, which is either the design working as intended or a happy accident.
