The tallest stands 10 in (25.4 cm), roughly a wine bottle with the neck cut off, and a lit taper adds most of that height again. On a dining table that puts the flame above eye level for anyone sitting down, which is where it stops blocking the person opposite.

Good to know
Metal carries heat down the stem. Let a taper burn all the way to the cup and the whole holder warms up, which is nothing on stone or tile and a mark on an oiled wood table. Blow them out while there is still an inch of candle left, and the base stays cool.
Care
Let spilled wax go hard, then lift it away with a thumbnail rather than a knife, since a blade takes the bronze finish with it. Wipe with a dry cloth; water sitting in the cup is what turns a bronze finish patchy at the rim.
