Blue glass reads almost black across a lit room and turns to color the second a flame sits over it. That is the whole trick here: a taper candle, a sculpted blue base, and light coming off the top instead of through a shade.

Good to know

The shapes stand at different heights, so three of them on a table step up and down instead of lining up flat. Worth planning before you order, because each package holds a single piece: the matched pair you are picturing on the mantel is two orders, and a run down a dining table is as many as the table is long.

It is built around a taper and nothing else. Tea lights and pillars want a flat well and have nowhere to sit here. Taper bases also vary, and glass does not give the way a metal socket does, so pare the candle base down with a knife rather than pushing harder.

Care

Let spilled wax go cold and hard, then flex it off with a thumbnail. Working at it warm smears the wax into the surface and turns a ten second job into three passes with a cloth. Wash by hand: blue glass shows every spot a dishwasher leaves behind.
