Seed trays look obvious in March and anonymous by May, which is when you find out that two rows of green shoots are indistinguishable and one of them was basil. These are blank bamboo tags cut in a T, with a point at the bottom that pushes into soil or potting mix.

Good to know
Pencil on bare bamboo outlasts most water based ink outdoors, and a permanent marker holds up second. Whatever you write with, bamboo left in the weather goes gray and soft at the soil line over a season, so these are markers for a growing year, not labels for a permanent bed. Both faces are blank, which buys you a second season if you flip them.
