A loach with nowhere to hide spends the day wedged behind the filter intake, which is the one corner of the tank you cannot see into. A tunnel moves that behavior to the front glass.

This one is aquarium safe plastic, curved, with an opening at each end so a fish can pass through instead of backing out. It sinks on its own, so it does not need burying in gravel or weighting down with rock.

Good to know

This is furniture for the bottom of the tank. Loaches, corydoras, plecos, shrimp and snails will use it within a day. A school of tetras that lives in the middle of the water column will swim past it and never go in, so buy it for the residents you actually have.

Rinse it in tank water before it goes in, never under soapy water, and check that it sits flat before you let a digging fish undermine one end of it.
