A lamp built around a figure lights the figure, not the room. This one glows from inside a bald eagle, and it will read beautifully on a dark shelf while doing nothing at all for the book in your lap.
It is a bald eagle accent lamp with layered feather detail in red, white and blue, standing on a dark textured rock base, lit from within by warm LED and run from a cord. It marks 250 years since 1776.

Good to know
It runs from a cord rather than batteries, and the cable leaves at the base rather than underneath. On an open shelf that means routing it somewhere or accepting that you can see it. A bookcase with an outlet behind it is the easy answer.
Warm LED behind colored translucent feathers reads amber, not white. Lit at night the red and blue bands go deeper and the white head goes gold, so if you want the flag colors to stay true, leave it switched off during the day and let the paint carry it.
Care
Dust with a dry cloth, working in the direction the feathers lie. Layered relief holds dust along every feather edge, and a damp cloth pushes it further into the seams instead of lifting it out.
