Size

Assembled, the holder takes about the desk space of a coffee mug and stands about a mug and a half high. That is small enough for a crowded side table and too small to double as a key dish, so do not buy it hoping it will earn its keep twice.

Good to know

Felt does what cork cannot: it pulls the water out of the air around a cold glass instead of letting it run down onto the wood. The trade is that the coaster is then wet, and a damp felt disc left flat on a finished tabletop all afternoon will leave its own mark. Lift the coaster when you clear the glass and stand it on edge to dry.

Red wine and coffee stain felt, and they do not come out. Across a dozen coasters that is survivable, which is the honest argument for buying twelve rather than four.

Care

Spot clean the felt with cold water and a little soap, then let it dry flat and away from a radiator. The wooden holder wants a dry cloth, nothing more.
