Cheese boards fail on width, not on length. A round platter eats the middle of the table and still leaves the crackers homeless. These are cut long and narrow instead: 18.9 in (48 cm) at the largest and only 7.1 in (18 cm) across, which is a run of cheese, olives and cut fruit down the center of a table rather than a platter of dinner.

The large runs about the length of a keyboard. The width is the number to check before you buy: at 7.1 in (18 cm) the widest of the three still will not take a dinner plate. These carry what goes alongside the plates, a row of cheeses, four glasses in a line, a handful of figs.
Good to know
Walnut moves under sunlight, and it lightens rather than darkens. A tray that lives on a sunny counter will not match one kept in a cupboard a year later, so if you want a set to age together, keep them together.
Care
Wipe with a damp cloth and dry it straight away. Walnut left sitting wet raises at the grain and goes gray along the edges, and oil will not bring that back. A dishwasher manages the same damage in a single cycle. Rub in a food safe oil when the surface starts to look chalky.
