One tube, one cutting. Pothos, monstera and tradescantia all root off a node in water, and a single node is what the mouth takes.
Change the water every few days or the roots end up sitting in the water that grew the algae. Then pot the cutting up before the root ball gets wider than the 0.8 in (2 cm) mouth, because roots go in easily and do not come back out.
