Serving boards get bought for the shape and used for the flat part. This one is cut as a sitting cat, ears and tail included, with fur texture worked into the surface and the face picked out in detail, and the flat run down the body is where the cheese actually lands.

Care

Hand wash it and stand it on edge to dry. A wood board left flat in a wet sink cups first and splits along the grain second, and a carved board goes at its thinnest point. Rub food safe oil in when the surface starts to look chalky, which on a board in regular use is roughly once a month.

Good to know

The silhouette costs you surface. Ears, tail and the curve of the back are outline, not serving room, so you get fewer wedges on here than on a plain rectangle with the same footprint. For four people with two cheeses and a pile of crackers it works. For a party grazing spread, bring out a second board and let the cat handle the cheese.
