A novelty mug lives or dies on the handle. Most are cast too tight for an adult hand and end their careers on a shelf by the second month. This one puts a full axe head and shaft where the handle goes, which gives four fingers somewhere to actually sit.

The shell is sculpted resin: knotwork bands top and bottom, a bearded warrior in a horned helmet on the side, teal and gold picked out against pewter. Inside it, a polished stainless steel liner runs up to the rim, so what you drink meets steel and not resin.

Care

Hand wash and stand it upside down to drain. Deep relief holds water in every recess, and dishwasher heat works resin loose from a steel liner over a year of cycles. Keep it out of the microwave too, for the obvious metal reason.

This is a display piece you can drink from rather than the mug that lives beside the coffee machine. It takes up the depth of two normal mugs on a shelf, the handle sticks out further than you expect in a cupboard, and it wants hand washing every single time. Buy it for the shelf and for game night, and keep a plain mug for Tuesday morning.
