The look is marble. The material underneath is ceramic, which is why a full vase still lifts with one hand and why a knock against the tap chips it instead of scratching it.

The large one stands about as tall as a wine bottle, which is the height that blocks a face across a dinner table. Put that one on a mantel or a hall table and keep the medium for the middle of the table.

- Sealed body, so it takes water and fresh stems rather than dried ones only.
- Pads on the base, which matters on a glass shelf or a lacquered sideboard.
- Narrow footprint for the height, so keep stems short on the large one.
- The marbling runs across the surface, so no two faces look alike.
Care
Rinse the inside with a bottle brush and change the water every couple of days. Green film builds at the waterline in a narrow vase faster than anywhere else, and once it takes hold in a matte glaze it needs a soak rather than a wipe.
